Thank You 2015, You Were a Great Year!

Thank You 2015, You Were a Great Year!
January 1, 2016 Sarah Peters

Wow, this has been an amazing year for Sarah Peters Photography and I can’t believe 2015 is ending already. When the year started I didn’t really know what was going to be in store for me. I had a few weddings booked already but everything else was up in the air. I knew I wanted to try some different things and to get my name out there more and I think I did that. Between focusing more on social media (more Facebook posts as well as starting the Instagram account…@sarah.peters.photography) and launching my website, I have been able to reach more people and show them what I have created.

ENGAGEMENTS AND WEDDINGS

Before the I dos take place some couples like to announce their love with engagement photos. These shoots took place all over Niagara, from Queenston Heights, to Niagara on the Lake, to random parks that I came across in my travels. Each couple showed how sickly in love they were and I love that they asked me to capture those moments for them to share. I had a few weddings booked at the start of the year but I also had quite a few that came last minute, including a handful of elopements. The elopements were sometimes my favourites because it was just two people so totally in love they had to do it…no fancy pomp and circumstance, just them. Some weddings had all elements working for them (weather, location, timing) where others had some hiccups, but nothing that couldn’t be turned around into something fun and special. No matter what the day brought, at the end there were always happy tears and smiles. I am always thankful to the Bride and Groom who choose me to be part of their special day. I hope the coming year brings just as much love and happiness.

FAMILIES

Families, kids, newborns, maternity, pregnancy announcements….I captured them all and more in 2015. From warm summer nights at the park, to cool fall afternoons playing in the leaves, I was there to create the family memories that will hang on walls or take their places on social media. I hosted my first mini sessions at Woodend Conservation area in Niagara on the Lake and I thank all the families who came out to have their pictures taken. I will definitely be doing more of them in the coming year so I  hope more people are ready. I did a fun shoot in downtown St. Catharines that turned out amazing and some shoots in Niagara on the Lake with some nice end results. Family shoots allow me to try out different spots in Niagara and help me discover little pockets of perfection in my own backyard. I can’t wait to get to know more families, meet more newborns, celebrate some first Birthdays, and work on my 100 meter dash as I chase after toddlers who don’t want to sit still.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Weddings, couples, and families are the majority of my photo shoots but every so often I get to be part of something a little different. I did a couple of cosplay sessions featuring some popular Disney princesses, I captured the first ever “Phil’s Facebook Survivor Awards” (I hope I get to be part of the next 20 plus awards), and the Wellspring Niagara Gala…just to name a few. I love trying new things and collaborating with different people to help make their vision come to life (or my vision as the case may be). One of my favourite things about this year came at the end when I organized my first “Twelve Giveaways of Christmas” on my Facebook page. I was able to get twelve different Niagara businesses to offer something and the each day there was a winner for a specific item. There was a great response by the vendors and the people who participated…so much so that I have no choice but to do it again in 2016!

WHAT’S NEXT?

So what do I have in store for the upcoming new year? Well I have a few ideas up my sleeve….you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled to find out. I definitely want to have a larger presence in the Niagara Area so I will be working on ideas to make that happen. I’m hoping the people I’ve worked with will continue to spread my name around, and share their pictures so that their friends and family can see my work. I have loved every moment of the last year and I am truly grateful to everyone who has hired me to capture their memories. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for Sarah Peters Photography!
